About Us

The Soup to Nuts Soup Kitchen (formerly the Freeport INN) is an all-volunteer based group and a registered 501(c)3 charity.

Since we are self-sufficient Soup to Nuts depends on donations to serve our neighbors in need. In these particularly hard times more people have come to us each weekday to receive a healthy meal at lunchtime. The generosity of our donors make it possible for the Soup to Nuts Soup Kitchen to remain a part of that unique American tradition in which individuals, religious institutions, business and government work together to help solve the problems of those faced with hunger and homelessness.

Our soup kitchen has been serving men, women and children a free, well-balanced, nutritious, hot meal at lunchtime for over 30 years. Annually we serve, on average, 600 meals weekly. We also provide a take-home food section with canned goods, etc., as well as a free boutique with new and gently-used clothing.

Our Volunteers
The work of the soup kitchen is made possible by the caring efforts of more than 80 volunteers who serve a multi-course meal five days a week to hungry people in the Freeport community. These dedicated workers pick up Street Signfood, unload trucks, cook, serve and clean up after every meal. They also work behind the scenes, ordering supplies, acknowledging donations, keeping our books, organizing special events and even offering their technical and creative skills to maintain our social media presence.

Our program is blessed with wonderful partners/contributors in the surrounding neighborhoods who regularly provide prepared meals, food, vegetables, clothing, etc. Click here for a list of the many stores and religious organizations that help us on either a daily, weekly or monthly basis. We are extremely grateful for their help and we are always looking for new contributors.
